Matisse

In Loving Memory of Matisse

Matisse was named after the artist—and with his big polydactyl “mitten” paws, he was truly a work of art. Found in a dumpster as a kitten and rescued by CARA, he eventually found his forever home with us. We like to think his love for lying on newspaper came from those humble beginnings.

He embodied classic orange cat energy: not the brightest, but bursting at the seams with love. Matisse had more affection than thoughts, and that’s exactly what made him so special.

His heart belonged to his big brother, Socks. The two were inseparable—Matisse always looked up to him, especially when his little sister Miranda came home and started picking on him. Socks was his protector, his hero, and his very best friend.

We miss our sweet, silly boy and those giant mittens more than words can say. Matisse brought joy, laughter, and endless love to our lives—and he always will.
