Hi. This is Pocket, he's a 2.5/3 year old rescue. I (foster mom) think Pocket is a coonhound/pit/lab mix, he was rescued in Western KY June, 2020! When his last owner took him to the vet to get fixed & UTD on shots, he was also diagnosed with heartworms. To make a long, sad story short and to the point - Pockets previous owner/rescuer has since surrendered him to me, by packing up and leaving in Feb. '21. I have since helped Pocket through his heartworm treatment (completed in July '21) and now in charge of helping him find his forever home. When Pocket was first rescued (from an abusive home) he was completely crate bound and this had caused some possessiveness with toys and food, only towards people. However, now that he's feeling more secure and confident, he's happily brings me toys to show off and eats comfortably with a hand in his bowl. But because of his history with the reactivity, I'm looking for a family with older kids that know how to respect space and watch body language. He's GREAT with animals, dogs of all shapes, sizes, temperaments - hes been fantastic with my chickens, my previous foster ferrets, & loves cats! His name is Pocket, for a couple reasons. He's a Pocket full of Sunshine that sticks to you like a back pocket (literally). He's the epitome of a Velcro dog, I go as far to say a "cellophane" pooch because all he wants to do is be with you. He's honestly the happiest dog I've had the pleasure of fostering! He doesn't tear anything up (except his stuffed animals), never has accidents in the house, loves to snuggle & just be a dog. He also LOVES the car! Disclaimer!! It is believed he has hound in him - he drools like a hound, howls like a hound, and boofs like a hound. He also is still learning to keep all four paws on the floor, but he just wants to give hugs all the time (he does not hump, thankfully!) He would need slow, positive introductions to any white males that are interested - not sure what happened in his past, but he can be selective to introductions. **Ideal home: an active family; a family that will be with him more than without him; a family with other fur babies; kids are okay, but remember he's 70lbs of a dog that recently learned that sharing is good and that paws are meant for the ground; a fam that will be patient and loving and allow him to grow old like a king.
